The Queens High School Of Teaching, located in Bellerose Queens, is an Educational Option School. Education Option programs are meant to service a wide range of academic performance. Based on English Language Arts (ELA) standardized test scores from the prior school year, students will be matched to Ed. Opt. programs based on the flowing distribution: 16% from the high reading level; 68% from the middle reading level; 16% from the low reading levelHalf of the student matched to our Ed. Opt. program will be selected based on their rankings from the school; the other half will be selected randomly. If you score in the top 2% of all student in the City on your previous year's ELA reading exam, & you listed an Ed. Opt. program as your first choice on your application, you are guaranteed a match to that program.

Admission Priorities

The Queen High School of Teaching has the following admission priorities:

  • Priority to student who attend PS/IS 226Q and PS/MS 208Q
  • Then to District 26 and 29
  • The to Queens student or residents
  • Then to New York City residents

Open House Information

Thank you for your interest at the Queens High School of Teaching! Our Fall Open House will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 and on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 6:00-7:30pm.

Summer Bridge

All incoming 9th grade students are offered the opportunity to participate in our QHST Summer Bridge Experience. This program was designed by staff and students to ease the transition from junior high to high school from both an academic and social emotional standpoint. The program is four days of workshops, activities, and high school preparatory learning experiences facilitated by current QHST students and our Coordinator of Student Activities.

Letters about Summer Bridge will be mailed home in June.
